You could sell 7 volumes on Amazon Marketplace and buy the set with the money.

I think some people `just didn't want to get Crossroads', they preferred to poke fun, without watching it properly and seeing it for what it was, an excellent programme.

Sums up a few people elsewhere. One noted as saying the show was a failure on every level.

What a fabulous failure it is; nearly 24 years in the top 20, most of them in the top 10 many in the top 5! Loyal following, huge profits and several awards.

The format, again a failure apparently, went on to be used by Grundy and Seven Network in Australia and The Young Doctors was made exactly the same way as Crossroads and became one of Australia's most popular and longest running programmes ever. The formula, again total failure goes on in Home and Away and Neighbours. Parts are used by Hollyoaks and Emmerdale.

I'm sure television companies would love a few more 'failures' like Crossroads.

You're not going to let them get away with screwing up all the work that was going on with ITV until they told their fibs are you!

I fancied the party at LWT I have to say. I was also looking forward to the visit to the TV Times archive. You wait 20 years to get "in" with the TV company and a DVD company screw it up... maybe in another 20 years eh!

I am increasingly tempted to have big banners asking for their evidence that fooked it all up.

I know they pissed off ITV staff, so its a universal dislike for the buffoons generally. I saw a Network DVD staff member posting on Soap Chat bigging them up only for someone at ITV Yorkshire to tell them how shite they are.

Yes well access to the script archive was a priority. Who is to say any of it will survive in a few years, and if so Network will have their name dragged through the press for the fuck-up last year with ITV.

I have been on the HMV Online site earlier this p.m. and noticed the Crossroads Box Set available for pre-order at £70.99 - available 9.11.09.

Interestingly, HMV advertise it as "Crossroads 1965-1979 - 41 DVD Box Set".

So if there was any doubt, it includes the limited b/w disc and takes us up to Volume 20.

An absolute bargain for any fans on the forum who haven't got any of the DVD's.

Play.com have it for pre-order too at £74.99.

The only good thing about this is that, particularly if ordinary retail shops stock it, it might get enough sales to generate more demand that could make it viable for them to continue with more releases.

Maybe they could go even straight to a box set with the next 41 DVDs in it?

We've got to live in hope!

Yes Valerie, it would be good if they went straight to a box set with next 41 DVDs.  We have got to live in hope !

It would have been a real sickener I reckon if the whole of 1979 was included in the Box Set, causing a dilemma for some whether to buy or not not buy.

They'd never be able to afford that, I'd imagine the Crossroads Archive: 45th Anniversary set is only possible because the individual volumes have already covered the clearence  costs.

I suppose it depends if they want to risk it, I don't know if the Cell Block H ones were a success?

Volume 3 of the Cell Block H UK release is due soon as well as a "special" release.

It certainly wouldn't be so cheap though.

Well they did nearly 700 episodes in one box, it was quite expensive...

Given the conversion rate, I think it worked out at £650 for the complete Cell Block H box set.

What i meant was that a box set this size is only possible at £90 rrp because all the episdes have been cleared allready, if the were releasing 320 episodes for the first time the ITV Licensing costs and BBFC Costs would make the set too expensive for anybody to be able to buy.
