Its Network DVD saying the archive releases are over, and they're all being sold as a box set, at circa £140 saving on buying the 'web exclusive' versions.

The only good thing is at least they'll be on sale in store and online. Although I can only see the bigger HMV's stocking it.

I've always been determined to get these archive ones....must start saving. We have an HMV in Scarborough - not a massive one, but would I be able to order it? They've sold the normal Vols 1-4 before.

Interesting debate at Roobarb I've been told

Quote
Weren't the Crossroads releases explicitly described as "never going to be available in the shops"? if that's true - and Joe Public will now be able to get hold of them with a substantial discount not available to the original "subscribers" - then I think people will justifiably be a bit miffed. These are hard financial times and many would have waited to take advantage of this (inevitably heavily reduced) re-packaging had Network been straight with people.

Quote
It could be like the first Coronation Street straight to video episode. They said it would never be on TV, people bought it, then they showed t on TV. People sued and won on the grounds of false advertising. Something similar could happen here if they did say they would not be releasing the Crossroads collection to the high street.

I do recall the site saying these are web exclusives only available from Network DVD. HMMM!

If you click on the Volumes individually, e.g. Volume 20 and get all the episode details, you still see "Web Exclusive".  I have just checked.

I wonder if Network have forgotten about that ?  I bet they will soon take it off.

"Our web-exclusive range (not available at retail) will be available for pre-order before it is in stock at the distributors. This allows customers to get an early order in but please note that your money will be taken on the purchase date and delivery could take up to 28 days from that date. "

Now their "web exclusives" as we have an email from Beddows stating means not to be sold anywhere other than on the Network DVD site - which is why they were never on Amazon.

I think that statement will soon be disappearing off the site, just like the Best Sellers Chart.

They think people have short memories and forget.

Interesting stuff on the Roobarb site about the Coronation St Episode which went straight to video as "video exclusive".  I remember all the angry people in uproar when Granada shown the episode (Curly & Racquel's honeymoon cruise) on TV, and quite right really.

Well surely 'Whats left in order" is also misleading and false advertising!

Are the B/ham Press still going to be informed of Network's antics ?

That will generate publicity and will not show Network in a good light, and may put added pressure on Network for change of heart.

Just need more signatures on petition as well.

I love Ian Beards posts, it like if he knocks it enough he might be able to change history. It was popular, tough luck! LOL I mean, TBH, its like the bully at school belitting.

Well if making fun of something that gave a lot of pleasure to lonely and old people, then fine. I hope you feel big. Of course its not as popular as it was, but the fact is the original four releases were noted by Network as one of their best selling ranges ever, so they did the archive release.

"If the CROSSROADS ARCHIVE does appear in the high street, then it may put a stop to the arguement about "no-one" being able to buy them.

Oh wait. Now it'll be "no-one wants to buy them en masse". "

No there won't be huge sales, especially as the die-hards will have forked out over £300 on 21 volumes, plus the four originals! DVDs are unfortunately 30 years too late - had this been released in 1975 it would have trashed, the posher, arguably often better written Corrie!
