I have been asked by John Bentley's family to let all members know that he passed away yesterday (13th August 2009) after a long illness. If the organisers of the appreciation society wish to email me I will be happy to put them in contact with John's family. Our thoughts are with them at this sad time.

Oh dear, I spoke to Patricia, "Patsy" In 2006, she was the one who helped greatly with making a interview piece with him. I also sent him a VHS of his episodes and was thrilled to know he'd enjoyed them.
Very sad. I'll change the front page to John.

I'll never forget that night at Crossroads, when you said 'all good things must come to an end'. And then you smiled. And I knew that you meant it.

Very sad news. John was a fine actor, and brought a touch of class to our favourite soap. Condolences to his family. He'll still live on in our memories on this site though! Bless him!

Sad news indeed, was only thinking John was one of the Crossroads stars from the Golden period still with us. It makes the discovery of episode 126 all the more special now,as the episode itself isn't too great apart from Noele and John lifting the standard of acting considerably.

Unfortunately we don't have many John Crossroads photos of him on his own, why I don't know. So its a bit of a rough image quality wise, but I think it shows him at his best, the 'matinee idol' hunk.

Very Very sad.
A sad ending to a bad week for myself.
I had a really bad day on Tuesday. I cheered up alot when my picture of John that I had sent off for arrived Wednesday. I took it to the Hospital to show my Mum. She smiled and said "I don't know, you & him". I smiled too !
Even though I never met him, I loved him ! I have a picture of him as my screensaver on my Mobile Phone and also Computer.
My favourite actor of all time, always was and always will be !
I am so glad that I finally wrote my fan letter in April.
Condolences to his family at this sad time.
R.I.P. John xxx

Ohh Maria I thought of you today when I read this news! I didn't even post anything silly on the "Reception" forum to follow your last reply. It just didn't seem right. Anyway, Douggie has started off again....so if you need cheering up a bit - let's go for it Chuck!

When Peter Ling died the family did a long obituary piece for CAS. Its quite difficult, not knowing who his agent was to get all his past history together.
I hope in a few weeks time we'll be able to source info to give him a nice section on the 'In Memory' page on CAS (which will move to the new site asap.)

Maybe John's family can provide some details.
The person who notified this forum said that you could e-mail and be put in touch with the family.
Have you e-mailed Mike, or are you waiting a couple of days ?

I though I'd leave it until Monday, I always feel like I'm intruding at times like this.
I guess in the scale of things, you'll have been one of the last fans to contact him. Which is nice that he still got fan mail I think.
