I know what you mean about intruding.

I also meant in time that John's family could perhaps provide info, not right away of course.

I never thought of it like that Mike, yes I was probably one of the last fans to contact him, albeit 31 years later than I originally intended, was waiting for him to come back from his absence 1977/78, to send the letter, but of course never did.

I am now so glad that I sent the letter. Smiley

I am wondering if John's family have released the news to the Press.  He was well known enough to get a few lines at least because of the Crossroads wedding.  Depends how much privacy they want I suppose.

I am buying papers tomorrow anyway, so shall have a good look.

Yes a press release should really be issued by someone.

Nothing on Teletext or Ceefax because I've already looked in News & Entertainment Sections.  And nothing at all on ITV or BBC news.

Well CAS can do it, but its not our place to decide that.... Obviously ATV Network has reported it because the fan club is part of that.

SoapChat have noted it in their forum for UK soaps. Facebook Soaps have it, but thats about it thus far.

No, just wondering about tomorrows papers that's all.

Although Renato wasn't reported until a week later.

Just have to wait and see what happens.

No guarantee we'll get anything back, but I checked and John's first episode (86) was directed by Alan Coleman. I've emailed Alan to see if we can get a quote about John.

Also contacted Judy Matheson, who as we know was his on-screen secretary and also of course Jane Rossington, as daughter-in-law on screen is the only real other star left to ask for any comment.

It would be good if you get a reply from at least one, better still if all three replied.  Just got to wait now.

I was really sad to hear the news of John Bentley's death.  Yet another of the original Crossroads cast leaves us, but his memory will live on through CAS and his many fans.  RIP John.

Alan Coleman is putting something together. Nothing back from Jane's agent yet.

There is going to be coverage in the local press for Sussex, not sure of anywhere else yet.

The same article is listed as Press Release by ATV Television, so if anyone wants to inform BBC Midlands (Ed Doolan will cover it) or BBC Midlands in general, the Birmingham Mail ect its on.

www.atvnetworklimited.co.uk

I suppose fans informing the companies looks better than CAS, as it shows he has fans still.

I did try looking on the BBC/Mail sites... and was bamboozled to how one makes a story, the Mail has more editors than I dunno what, and whom deals with TV I don't know.
