There seems to be a few 'swap overs' The Plane Makers, and its re-launched series The Power Game were made at Elstree, however The Power Game series two was made at Birmingham, so the VT clocks state...

Porter Arnold Capper is mentioned in another thread.I particularly remember him doing a lot of comedy stuff with Nurses Blake and Hardy. He was suceeded as porter by Ernie Penrose, played by Brian"Richard Hillman"Capron. He had a stint of about 4 years in the role and was still there in the final series.

Okay Mike and I have decided to launch a new spin-off site from CAS detailing the other ATV soaps such as Emergency Ward 10, Honey Lane [Market At] and General Hospital.

So we would be very grateful for any/all the storyline info/character info/broadcasting info/triva you could provide us with on the soaps!
Douggie,I don't know if you or Mike have Volume Two of the Kaleidoscope Drama Guide for Independent Television(2005).It has a lot of information on the three shows you mention-Transmission dates,Writer/Director Credits,Cast info and the status of episodes(existing, missing etc.,)

I noticed in the ITN archive they have a listing for 2 episodes of Calling Oxbridge 2000. I suppose they could be 'extras' on a DVD, but I don't think the EW10 ones would have room for them. ATV Medical dramas... could be a dvd I suppose!

I see that there's a third Emergency Ward 10 DVD coming out.I'm surprised that so many episodes have survived. Also,it must be selling okay.Personally,I'd much prefer a General Hospital release-starting with the 16 existing daytime eps.

I rather enjoyed the EW10 DVD. Only got the second one. Just out of curiousity. I wouldn't get any others, but it was just interesting to see how it aired.

As said in the DVD thread its a shame there is so little on this show online - even the BFI is basic (more basic than that ATV article) but not really sure what kind of material ITV will have on it really.

Of course any memories of plots/characters would be good. The ATV Archive does have one book, but well I've used most the info from that in the article.

The only characters that I can remember are those that have been mentioned in the DVD thread, and in the ATV article and the only storylines being the Jill Gascoigne twin sister story and Dr Bywaters wedding.  But I decided to look in the Penguin TV Companion I have, General Hospital is listed along with a cast list.  I won't list the obvious ones i.e. Tony Adams nor Lynda Bellingham but here are some names :

Dr Matthew Armstrong - David Garth, Dr William Parker Brown - Lewis Jones, Dr Martin Baxter - James Kerry, Sister Edwards - Monica Grey,
Dr Peter Ridge - Ian White, Arnold Capper - John Halstead, Dr Robert Thorne - Ronald Leigh-Hunt, Sister Ellen Chapman - Peggy Sinclair,
Dr Joanne Whitworth - Patricia Maynard, Dr Richard Kirby - Eric Lander, Nurse Katy Shaw - Judy Buxton, Dr Knight - Carl Rigg,
Dr Guy Wallman - Tom Adams, Dr Chipapo - Jason Rowe, Staff Nurse/Sister Holland - Pippa Rowe, Nurse Stevens - Amber Thomas,
Dr Mayhew - Archie Tew, Dr Helen Sanders - Judy Loe, Staff Nurse Nelson - Victoria Burton

Just a brief on page 51 in Angels and as a footnote in Emergency Ward 10 on page 180. "Might as well have been called Emergency Ward 11"

Now when books just pass comment on a show like that you know there is very little information around on it, so I'll pat myself on the back for the length of that article!

I see what you mean about the General Hospital comment within the Emergency Ward 10 bit.  Yes, nothing is it.  And you have to go looking for it to find it.  Quite sad really for a throw-away comment like that for such a good programme.

Yes, you did quite well with that article Mike.
