Here's one from December 1981:

Barbara (to David): You're over-reacting!

David: I never over-react. I have been known to under-react. My mistake this time, I think, was not reacting quickly enough.

(Just substitute "act" for "react" and you'll see what I'm getting at. I suspect it was a bit of an "in joke". Reminds me of Ann George's complaint about Ronnie that "he acted too fast"!)

And another one from late 1981:

Sharon (to Adam whilst walking out on her job at the Garage): Ta-ra sweetie. I can't work with you. I can't work with someone I wouldn't buy a second-hand car from!

Three classics from Episode 1927:

Jane: (far too excited)
I'VE BOUGHT A JAR OF COFFEE!! (dashes at through the motel front door)
(Cynthia and Vera look decidedly underwhelmed)

Miss Tatum:
I'm going to show you something that no-one's ever seen before!   Shocked

Amy:
Sometimes he comes once every six months and sometimes he comes every day!!   Shocked

Benny:
(To Archie)
I worked on a farm didn't I.  Look, salt's the best.

Archie:
On the slugs?

Benny:
Yeah.

Archie:
That's your trouble son, you're too old fashioned. Pellets is the thing. Get some pellets and stick em all round.

Benny:
Or we used to, you can get half a grapefruit.

Archie:
Half a grapefruit? what with a bit of suger on and I suppose give em a boiled egg for after?

Paul:
Miranda, I have never loved a woman. I'm a completely heartless person.

Miranda:
Oh, you continentals.

Paul:
Yes we do tread were English men tremble.

Valerie:
Oh, there you are.

Miranda:
Who did you mean?

Valerie:
Why you Miranda, we're all waiting for you in the bar.

Paul:
Excuse me but I must return to my duties in the restaurant.

Miranda:
See you when you bring the soup.

Paul exits.

Valerie:
You don't like him either?

Miranda:
What gave you that idea?

Valerie:
His face. Darling remember when you give him an order, say please.

Miranda:
Now I thought that was one way of getting nowhere with a man.

Valerie:
Anywhere away from Paul Ross is a desirable destination!

It's hard not to love Amy.  She's definitely everyone's favourite Auntie.

There are 3 best lines that I like :-

1.  1973 episode - Hugh saying to Meg when she suggests that they live at the Motel after they are married instead of having a cottage.  "Its like living at London Airport".

2.  New Years Eve 1974 - Meg twirling around in her long multi-coloured dress in the sitting room saying to Hugh "Hello Darling, Have you been waiting for hours ? Do you approve ? I need to know.  You don't think I've gone too far do you ?"  All in one breath.  She only stops flaffing around until Hugh tells her to "Come here".

3.  1976 episode - Tish saying in Reception I think to Jane Smith and Carney "Some people get turkey for Christmas, I get Bill Warren".  In response to enquiries whether it was true Bill and Avis were going round to Tish & Ted's on Christmas Day.

From the first 4-episode compilation from 1976:

Jane:
"Where have you just come back from?"

Kelly:
(dreamily) "South America." (sighs contentedly)

Jane:
"Oooh, you'll want a cup of tea, then!"

Good to know your imagination was fired up there, Jane!   Roll Eyes

Here is one I like from 1976.  Meg has walked in the sitting room to find Hugh and David arguing.  After David has left the room she turns to Hugh and says :-

"And don't think I'm going to sit up half the night listening to your side of the story either".

Meg then flounces out of the sitting room, leaving Hugh stood there !

Sandy saying to Vera "Figures are certainly a good read Vera" 1976. Now we know courtesy of Aston, that the "Figures" were actually TV Station abbreviations and TV programme schedules.

Also in the same episode Hugh smooth talks Meg when she caught him eyeing up Mrs Carey "My Darling, all other women exist for me solely to suffer by comparison to you".

From 1973 when talking about cottages Hugh says to Meg "My Darling, I just want to be where you are thats all.  I don't care if its in a tent at the side of the motorway"!

If he just wanted to be where Meg was, why did he keep bgring off to Australia all the time?!?!  As for a tent at the side of the motorway - the noise from the traffic MIGHT have been an issue for Meg.

Well, Aston, you definitely have some points !!!  I know one of the times Hugh went to Australia the storyline involved another woman (we see a glimpse of this story starting in Archive 4 when he tells Meg on Christmas Eve that he has to fly out Boxing Day.  Again, he smooth talked her and said if there was any other way he would change his plans.  If you think about it, Hugh was a millionnaire businessman, was his own boss, could do as he pleased) As for the tent : My guess is he was being his usual smooth charming self and just biding his time, and it worked, because guess what only 2 years later, Hugh got his cottage !
