If you could have any episodes of Xroads on DVD - and putting aside most are wiped - which ones would you select?

OOOOOO Yes I think the Bomb episode would be good! Or Meg running down Vince....or Sandy's car crash.

I was hoping, having heard about it from someone who saw it - the Meg discovering Hugh's dead episode.
We must see Meg ripping phones out of their 1970s sockets (And anyone who remembers what those were like will know they weren't as easy to pull out the wall as they are now)

I wouldn't mind seeing more on Malcolm Ryder trying to end Meg's life.

Glad to see the site back - old Crossie, can't keep her down! Anyway, if it is the case that 'they' are going to put all the remaining episodes onto dvd does anyone know how much this will roughly cost? Maybe we could do something naughty and get copies made? get Terry Lawton on to it! and it would save some of us a fortune especially those on 'low incomes'. If anyone wants to make me an offer then pvt away! when the time comes.

Its about a £1 per episode, so not bad and certainly cheaper than the £100 Granada charge per-episode to buy direct from them.
The problem with doing 'dodgy' copies of course is we might not reach 1980 if that happens... although I'm sure they'll go down in price once a load are released then it might be more affordable.

Thankz Mike for giving me the number of episodes we are to expect. So (roughly) 700 of the ATV eps from the early 70s to 1981. (roughly) 500 from 1982 till 1985. 1985 is my own cut off point/year - let's say the summer, as anything post that is of little interest to me. 12 eps released each month = 8 years (for all to be released?) (roughly) £1,200 pounds! over 8 years - cost to us - £3.24 pence per week! - not bad!

I'd like to see the episode Noele Gordon mentions in her book 'My Life at Crossroads' which involved Ronnie Allen and Sheila Matthews who played Laura Marshall, David Hunter's fiancee at the time.
Apparently during the scene David and Laura were supposed to be cleaning the chimney in a cottage that David and Laura would be moving into after their marriage, when a small shower of soot would fall onto them adding a bit of comedy to the situation. As it wasn't possible to rehearse the soot shower beforehand the actual fall of soot was kept until the final take.
Ronnie Allen and Sheila Matthews knew what was going to happen to them, however, unbeknown to Ronnie and Sheila the props department had filled a bucket with assorted gunk such as soot, oil and black paint. This was tipped onto them in the final take and they were both covered in this horrible mixture. Noele says in her book that neither Ronnie or Sheila could travel back to London that day because they couldn't get the stuff out of their skin and hair.
Must have been hilarious to watch but I suspect Ronnie and Sheila didn't find it very funny at the time. I'm not sure what year this episode would have aired but as my Crossroads notes begin in mid 1974 Laura Marshall and David Hunter's romance was ending so it's definitely somewhere between 1971 (when Ronnie joined the cast) and mid 1974. Sadly I assume it must have been one of the wiped episodes.
Would also like to see the episode in which David Hunter is supposed to have hit Rosemary. I'm intrigued by the episode mentioned on Archive Volume 2 where Rosemary arrives at the motel and starts an argument with David. Could this be the episode?

The episode 1688 on the Archive Volume 1 when David takes the phone call from Rosemary is intriguing. I'd love to know the background and lead up to that episode.

I do love it seems that Rosemary was forever hanging up on people, especially poor Tish. She's doing it in 1972 and 1980. Must have been a running thing with Rosemary.
Yes John Kavyo recalled the early days of Rosemary...
We were introduced to Rosemary in 1970. David had just joined the motel staff after leaving a hotel in Bermuda as Manager and Jill took an immediate dislike to him - his abrupt manner and unsmilingness didn't sit well with her at all.
David didn't divulge anything about his home life, the implication was that he was single.
However, now and again during his early weeks, viewers would see his home where there would be a silent, lonely woman sitting, moping, gazing into space. It was only as David's character developed that we were introduced to her as Rosemary, his wife! He never mentioned her at the motel! It soon became apparent that she was neurotic. There son, Chris, was mainly away at boarding school at the time.
