Its a lot later of course that those black and white episodes were lost, all the ITC Telerecordings used to be around so really had Polygram/Granada not been so lapse at one point you could have technically repeated it in black and white from 1966 to 1974.

Coronation St survives because the mighty Granada has cared for and looked after its archive.

I'm most interested to see what happens when they move from Quay St next year.  I shall have to have a look and see if there are skips outside !

It is unbelievable, when you consider the time and effort that it took to make the serial that it could have been so casually discarded.

Unfortunately, that was the case not just at ATV, but all over the world.  It's such a shame.

Oh my goodness!!  Heaven forfend!!

Freeman's utterly beautiful and rather easy-on-the-eye co-Bargee.

(I cannot accept any responsibility for Daniel's actions, especially when he upsets people)

I think it should be safe. Granada have always looked after their archive, even when others didn't. These days they would be even more conscious of it's historical importance.

I would imagine the Corrie recordings have been transferred to a digital format of some kind. Surely they should be releasing DVDs of the entire series in near future like Emmerdale Farm.

I wish they would begin releasing continuous blocks from 1961.

Someone above mentioned audio recordings of Dr. Who and it made me think about Crossroads. I know someone claimed years ago to have audio recordings of hundreds of episodes in their bedroom, do we know who this was and if they still have the tapes or not?

Also, are there any audio recordings of missing episodes doing the rounds in fan circles?

An audio recording becomes a very valuable resource when video is wiped as all the Dr. Who fans now know!

Carolyn Jones has an Albion Market cup. one of her friends was on the show. Very impressive LOL.

Its a white mug with the albion market logo on it, the granada logo on it and some sort of tagline which I forget. The print is red.

I've seen the YTV Newsreport from 1981 the woman with the audio tapes is the lady who appears in Crossroads Revisited in 1985 and visits Nolly's grave. She started recording it in the 1970s and she's seen on YTV Calendar News surrounded by these Crossroads tapes all over the floor.

Thanks, Mike! Carolyn obviously has excellent taste - I've got an Albie mug too! Dunno why I like the show really... happy memories, associations with the era it was broadcast... plus, it did get pretty darned good towards the end. Well, IMHO!

Anything you can find on Albie would be much appreciated, Maria.

I got my mug when the show launched in August 1985 - together with a plastic carrier bag that has "I Buy Albion Market" written on it! My mug is white lettering on a red background - both sides simply read: "Albion Market" and at the bottom: "Granada Television". If you take a look at the pic far right (top) in the link below (scroll down) you'll see two of the cast members with the mug design I have at the launch in August 1985 -
