Darlinkz, I am not alone in my anger at why we STILL have to put up with the loudness of commercials on t.v. BETWEEN programmes - I have yet again written to FucOffcom re this problem which by all accounts is their 2nd most reported gripe. I'm tired of having to mute my sound when the dreaded lurgies interupt my televisual pleasure sessions. If you agree with me please contact them yourselves and perhaps with larger support (Oh Matron) we will eventually get a balanced sound. http://www.ofcom.org.uk/contactofcom

I read somewhere a new company is being set up to monitor the level of the ads loudness.

The few rare occasions when one is forced to watch those frightful commerical channels I just mute the sound when the commericals come on. Honestly at my age I don't want to watch adverts about ladies who can't control their bladders.

A friend of a friend recently told me that the sound levels are different and ITV etc are aware they are different. I was told Programmes are 80% volume level - Trailers 85% and Commercials 90% and not once do either offcom or ITV express this (to the viewers).
Also has anyone noticed how loud radio sound it if you listen to it digitally on a t.v.? if you change channels from radio to t.v. and back - you have to use your volume control. Is there some kind of television mafia going round trying their best to make people stop enjoying radio/television programmes?

Ofcom couldn't tell you what 2 add 2 was unless Michael Grade told them the answer beforehand!

Can anyone tell me what 'Ofcom' do then? Do they just answer telephone calls and say "The computer says nooo"? And YES the adverts are far too loud....also trailers for forthcoming shows are at a higher level on EVERY channel! So why are the money-making-toptv-programmes broadcast so quietly?

Ofcom and its previous incarnations are as useful as a plastic fire poker.

I lost my temper in a couple of emails to them. A friend of mine told me that a friend of his (!) said that programmes have a volume setting of 80% - trailers 85% and commercials 90% - that's put in a simplified way but you get the gist. Why do ofcom not have to power to stop this? when I used to write to other t.v. customer supports they never once admitted that THEY DO TURN THE SOUND UP on commercials.
If anyone listens to the radio via your t.v. set as I do that too is TURNED WAY UP compared with the television stations. What are they trying to do - provoke us?

Everyone knows that the adverts come on louder than the programme but Ofcom and the channels just won't publically admit it. I always turn over the channel when the adverts come on or mute the tv. I can not stand commericals.
