IMDB list her as appearing in 1974, but no character. Does anyone know if this was a different part or have any details on her time in the show?

I'll never forget that night at Crossroads, when you said 'all good things must come to an end'. And then you smiled. And I knew that you meant it.

It was the same part darling, a gormless waitress like so many of my staff. But you have to love them.

A newspaper is questioning the 1974 date as she was still in UpDown, I don't suppose anyone knows for sure from a TVT?

It's possible she could have been in Crossroads in 1974. Actors didn't appear in every episode of UpDown and with each episode taking two weeks to make, it's possible that Jenny would have had time to do Crossroads. Also, the 1974 series of UpDown was the WW1 series, in which Ruby went to work at a munitions factory, so she'd definitely have been missing for a few episodes.

Freeman's utterly beautiful and rather easy-on-the-eye co-Bargee.
(I cannot accept any responsibility for Daniel's actions, especially when he upsets people)

Well according to these reports it states she appeared in Xrds on & off from 1974 until 1979,something I feel sure I would have taken note of if it had occurred, however I really don't think that she did. Interesting to note that she played Kate O Mara's devoted maid (typecast) in the National tour of "The Marquise" in 2004. I only ever remember her in the one role as Flo/Florence Baker.

John Kavyo recalls her in it in 1975. There is a photo of her in it in 1976 and 1977 and 1979. So maybe she was some sort irregular regular. And shes Jill's nanny in the later end of the 70s looking after Sarah Jane before Stan swipes her away.

Yes I imagine it would be quite normal for actors to do work not only inbetween seasons of Upstairs but also during production when they are not being used - I don't think any of the cast appeared in every episode for those who were there the full five years. So I would say it was likely she did indeed make some appearances in 1974.

Having checked Upstairs had 68 episodes in the original series with the actor to appear in nearly all of them being Gordon Jackson who missed around 8 episodes across the 5 years.

Well if John says she was in it in those years ,then it's 100 % accurate,he knows his stuff, that's for sure. Probably the reason I don't remember her is that she never had much of a story,a bit like Betty Driver's character.

It seems like she was happy to play glorified speaking extras it seems because thats all she appears to be in Crossroads.

I read in some obit somewhere that she always wanted to star in something that would show her as a powerful woman, I just can't for the life of me see what that would be,could you? I mean I'm not putting her down but she was not suited for anything other than the roles she did play.

Must admit - she did seem to play the same sort of bland 'doh' character in everything I've seen her in. Bit like Miranda Hart does nowadays - but she's funny too!

She's been noted by the BBC in their little round up of lesser stars died in January on their website.

As a big UpDown fan,I'm virtually certain Jenny didn't appear on Crossroads prior to 1979.
