I also found the real mayor of brum was in it in 1971. Victor Ernest Turton. I don't know if he's listed in the TV Times or whether he even spoke, but he was poured a drink by Meg at the bar and he was wearing his chains. How very odd.

I vaguely remember this Lord Lanchester bloke. I seem to remember him as being a bit like the Major in Fawlty Towers. He was a fun character!

Is he not ref'd in an episode on the DVDs? The name sounded familiar, unless I'm Just muddling him with Tommy Lancaster.

He's in my Kal guide too. Episode 2388, dated 9/9/75.
Heathbury's news article says Harold Berens was playing the part of Lord Lanchester for 6 weeks. Anybody's guess whether that was his significant first or last episode, or whether just half way through ?

Lord Lanchester, isn't he the bloke who was Carney's commanding officer in the army? I seem to remember Carney coming into the motel reception and saluting him or am I totally losing my marbles???
