I found the article below in a local paper in an issue dated Saturday 25 Aug 1990, 2 years after the series finished.

I thought some of you might like to read the bit about how addictive Crossroads was to its fans and wondered if anyone had heard this story before. Anyone know who presented the winnings?

Ha Ha! Nice to see she carried on watching the second half whilst 'digesting' the news! She must have been watching UK Gold or something though, surely?

LOL!  What a great story!  Through my mother I certainly knew some old dears who would only talk in the ad break or before or after an episode of either Crossroads or Coronation Street.  They couldn't miss a single bit of their soaps.

It was dated as 1990.

My Mum wouldn't talk during most telly programmes, unless it was in surprise at something she'd seen.  I can remember her saying "There she is, she's alive" when Jill burst through the door of Meg's room on the QE2.  Cheesy

Its funny what you can find in old newspapers. I'm sure local papers across the country are littered with stories about Crossroads actors opening this fete and that fair and attending this event etc etc.

Its just a matter of trying to find these stories now and gathering them together for us forum-ers!

It would be nice to hear a few more of the above as these types of stories, as well as the one about the pools winner above, give a very real indication of how seriously fans took the series and are some indication as to its popularity.
