I'll never forget that night at Crossroads, when you said 'all good things must come to an end'. And then you smiled. And I knew that you meant it.

Yes but they say Meg was killed in the fire which she wasn't.

Imagine the Crossroads fire filmed with today's budgets.

They'd be able to afford the fire alarm sound effect for a start which is rather missing from the foyer considering it had a large red hooter above the exit.

Maybe. Probably a young reporter who wasn't around at the time and who didn't bother with any proper research.

Just sloppy journalism. I was tempted to sign up in order to correct them, but I can't be bothered. Would they care?

The thing I find funny watching the Motel Fire,is after Jill spots the fire, the previous sountrack of laughter at the fireworks is still going,
so it makes some of the folk there seem sickos, laughing away at the Motel fire.
Another common mistake is saying Noele's last appearance in Crossroads was the Motel Fire, also on a channel four show on
nostlgia, the Scottish comic,Rhona Cameron, said the Motel Fire was the last ever Crossroads episode.

I did read an article in the Guardian that said Crossroads ended in 1979.

...and where's the Southfolk fire? One one my favourites, next to the Crossroads fire, of course. Emmerdale Barn gets three mentions in this article but there's no mention of soap's "daddy" DALLAS.
Southfork burnt down (just the California set) at the end of Series 7 and the next Season starts with the the traditional ten week's location outdoor filming before the rest of the season's 12 weeks were shot in the MGM studios. Obviously Southfork looked fine as they didn't burn down the REAL ranch house in Texas.
This was explained away when Pam says to Bobby "I thought there'd be more damage." "Oh, it's all on the inside", Bobby unconvicingly answers.
Strange how JR and SueEllen didn't spot that a totally different John Ross emerged from the fire. A bit like Clayton Farlow who brought a totally different Miss Ellie home from their honeymoon. Everyone was too polite to mention that his wife was not the woman he married!
And where is the Melrose Place cliffhanger where Kimberly blew up the whole apartment complex? That had exactly the same set on the next Season where the "rebuild" was just explained away in the next Season by a few scene "linking shots" of two workmen carrying a plank around the pool with the background sound of a few hammers which was obviously enough to fix the previous season finale's catastrophe!
Only in soaps, eh?

Must admit - that's the one thing that bugged me about that episode! Whilst we're on the subject, why did Adam chase those dodgy geezers towards the kitchen tradesmens entrance in the drive? It's a dead end!

It's a dead end! Thinking about this, I suppose they'd go through the kitchen doors, as they were never locked, then out the kitchen's other exit (which is seen on the black and white 1973 thing where meg is digging) and then down that driveway. LOL well I suppose thats possible, though adam should have said 'they even had the cheek to steal one of Shughie's buns' lol

I digress here a bit. More a Blooper than a disaster. But in that episode when Vera was mugged late at night, when Jim Baines was around......Old Carney locked up, turned out the lights, switched off the music etc....all peace and calm. Then when Vera came banging on the front door - Carney let her in, and suddenly Jane Smith appears from the kitchen in full uniform. (Why was SHE still there at such a late hour when the Motel was effectively 'closed'?) She may have appeared in the following episode - but it makes no difference, it continued straight on from the previous one.
