I'm currently going through a two disc set of "World In Action" Volume 2.
Its a Best Of. Episodes range from 1963 to 1996.

I go through 'phases' of watching a whole box-set throughout the week. This week it's George & Mildred's turn. Even though they are over thirty years old (the episodes!) and a tad dated, the humour still makes me laugh. I loved Yootha Joyce's character, and the snobby neighbour Geoffrey Fourmile! That young Tristram gets some cracking one-liners too!

I watch different DVDs every night. Tonight it was an episode of Man in a Suitcase called "Who's Mad Now?"

Freeman's utterly beautiful and rather easy-on-the-eye co-Bargee.
(I cannot accept any responsibility for Daniel's actions, especially when he upsets people)

Had an EastEnders night tonight - wall-to-wall consecutive episodes from 1985. Startling how good it was, IMHO!

I love Waking the Dead even if it is bonkers. The cases are always complex, which I like, and require you to think - which I also like.

I love the almost ad-lib way the actors (especially Grace and Boyd) interact. Some episodes were quite strange but there were some very good ones amongst them.

That's another good series, however I was disappointed to find that some of the episodes are edited, I compared recordings form the old Granada Plus and sometimes scenes in the Acorn Box Set are missing and then you get scenes that were not in the Granada Plus showings that are in the Box Set you just can't win!

Thats interesting Fairlawns. I've had my Acorn set a few years and am only now watching the episodes.
I remember watching episodes during my school holidays in the afternoons in the 70's. I must have been watching repeats.
The episode which stands out in my mind is when Mrs Ashton tragically dies and is brought to hospital where her youngest daughter Freda is a nurse.

Yes that was a good one, I remember being most up set when they killed off Jean Ashton (Shelagh Fraser). Its high time I started watching this again some interesting faces turn up in the episodes. Silly continuity errors like the piano in the Ashton's living room changes to a different one in later episodes and in another a door knob falls off a door!

Thanks for that Fairlawns. I'm still on the first series, the 1970 episodes so will watch out for the piano change and the door knob.
Fancy that, Granada making errors.
I noticed that Tim Jones, former Crossroads Director (ex-husband of Jane Rossington) is on the end credits as Director.

Hope you're enjoying it,Maria. As you say it was repeated in daytime from October 1972 onwards.

I am enjoying them DJB thanks. I've just finished the first disc, Margaret Ashton's wedding to John Porter.
Thanks also for the year 1972, I wouldn't have known that. Granada gave it a quick repeat, probably because it was so popular. I'm glad they did because I wouldn't have seen them otherwise.
I know Julie Goodyear pops up in one episode. Channel 4 shown it as part of a Season in Sept 1989, commemorating 50 years since the start of World War II.

I'm just wondering Fairlawns if you know whether she was axed or left of her own accord ? I know the series for me took a different turning after she was no more. No strong matriarch presence, something lacking. But a very good series all the same.
