Sorry, didn't mean to offend you. Simply stating my opinion - for what it's worth. You didn't offend me, hope it didn't seem that way and sorry if it did. You just gave me an excuse to ramble on about a particular favourite year of my growing up; the year I finally felt I'd finally 'caught up' with my peers. If I only could have had sex that year it would have been perfect.

Back on topic: I did try and watch the 1976 eps of TOTP but I kept forgetting and iPlayer is no good for whizzing through the mediocre stuff. So I'm gonna try again with the '77 episodes.
By the way, I'm probably the only person that couldn't bloody stand Pan's People, Ruby Flipper and Legs & Co. Why couldn't the British dance like the Americans in the 70's?

Pan's People were pretty revolutionary though, weren't they? They started out on TOTP in May 1968, and I don't think there'd been anything quite as... er... "scanty" before!

Yes,Pans were the most iconic, although I always liked Ruby Flipper. Seems like I was in the minority as they lasted less than six months. Incidentally,Sue Menhenick was a member of all three groups and even appeared briefly with Zoo(the final dance troupe who appeared from 1981-83 in a less prominent role than their predecessors).

I'm still watching the TOTP archive episodes, as you may have gathered from my comment about Our Kid, but it's getting hard with so many dodgy songs in there - the likes of Laurie Lingo (DLT), The Wurzels, JJ Barrie and Brotherhood of Man (My Sweet Rosalie). But then you get the slightly strange performances such as Lee Garrett, Archie Bell & the Drells (strange choreography) and Mud doing disco and it's worth watching for curiosity value. For the record (no pun intended!), Castlewich, I agree with what you say about the music of 1977 - except Donna Summer! "I Feel Love" absolutely drives me up the wall!

(I cannot accept any responsibility for Daniel's actions, especially when he upsets people)

I like the stuff she did with Stock, Aitken and Waterman in the late 1980s - especially the one with the video set on a train ("This Time"?).

"This Time I know it's for Real". I'm not a big SAW fan,but I liked the album they did with Donna. But,the 70s stuff with Giorgio Moroder is her most classic period.

Well, agree to differ - it's all down to personal taste, ain't it, darlin' - as Angie Watts might have said in the 1980s. Liked some of Donna's early '80s hits too. She kept disappearing from the pop scene, didn't she? Was she raising a family?

She made at least one album every year between 1975-84,but has only made four full-length studio albums since then. However,in the interim she has regularly had new tracks on various compilation albums. Yes,she has three children and continues to tour. Her last album Crayons reached the Top 20 in the USA IN 2008.

Thanks, DJB - I saw the 1989 "This Time" video with Donna on the train with huge shoulder pads last night... she seemed to be having fun... a real "feel good" video... one of my all time favourites if I'm feeling down in the dumps.

Had a bit of a head-bashing-against-the-wall session on Friday night. TOTP came on at 10pm, closely followed by Big Hits of 1977. I was watching with two friends. One of them piped up at the start of Big Hits and said, "Why are they showing this? We've only just got into 1977!!" I argued, "Bill, it's just a music clip show and partly to whet the appetite for viewers to keep watching." Pity it's not on this coming week, then! It's Sky at Night week again. And that Boney M performance was a bit dodgy, to say the least.
