I was just wondering how much promo material there might be out there giving clips and stills from the show. Some of this may give a glimpse back at how the show was promoted (or not) over the years. I found the following link interesting and while there is nothing much new there Crossroads-wise, it would be interesting to know what else may be out there in collections. Continuity and promos are becoming a bigger thing on Youtube and maybe even more Crossroads material may eventually surface there. Here's the link http://thetvroom.com/itv/itv-thames-01-60.html This site is dedicated to this sort of stuff...they have 2 holding captions from Thames showing 1988 Crossroads. I think the second may be from the last day of broadcast for the original series...and if you go back to the menu there is some other ATV material too. They are also looking for donations from other regions and channels so it may be a good way to preserve the past if anyone has any old videotapes they plan to throw out.

There is a Granada caption from about 1980 with Meg in the reception area. The only region as far as I'm aware that dared be cheeky on screen with one announcer loving to take the mick.
There is a YTV Crossroads Revisited caption from 1985 being very BBC-like and serious, the photo is I think the cast group shot from the 20th anniversary photo shoot. There is also a TTTV version for Crossroads 30 Years on from 1995 which is the view of Kings Oak from the end of Crossroads Kings Oak as the backdrop with the cast cutout laid on top from the 3000th party in 1978.
Speaking of TTTV I've seen on a website somewhere a TTTV line-up caption from about 1979 with Crossroads on the line-up, there was also on a website somewhere a photo of Rediffusions line-up which was it seems a wall with the show names and times placed on it and each show lit up in order of announcement.
We also have the UTV presentation for Crossroads from around 1984-87 in part with a curious neon style holding caption of 'Crossroads Motel' in neon.
I'm sure there must be a few more 1970s ones out there, although the only one on the DVDs is the WestWard TV continuity on the episode from 1976 that was recovered in the WestWard archive.

I'll never forget that night at Crossroads, when you said 'all good things must come to an end'. And then you smiled. And I knew that you meant it.

I think Greg Taylor provided this to CAS a long time ago.

Very interesting Mike, you certainly know your stuff. I have some old betamex tapes I need to check sometime and hopefully there may be some Crossroads continuity or promos on there. Have just come across another site. Are the two Crossroads B&W clips at the link below from surviving episodes? http://www2.tv-ark.org.uk/soaps/british.htmlIt states the second is from the final monocrome edition in 1969. I recognised the first colour clip from the DVD but don't rememebr the b&W ones but I can't say as I haven't checked the DVDs yet.

Yes both are on the DVD, I remember the bag one. It opens with some odd music. I found the more recent TTTV one.

I remember that promo. I didn't know that it was just Granada that had that. Although I wouldn't know really would I, just something that was on before the ATV idents and music came on. I can remember the one before that, it was a bigger photo just Meg head and shoulders.

And thinking further about that Granada Meg promo, I'm certain it was there until Meg's departure in 1981 and then it changed to something non-Meg.

Of course there is the promo on the end of Crossroads Revisited for the 21st anniversary episode of Crossroads "You're invited to a wedding".

I've also seen a YTV Crossroads caption from about 1985 that is still using the old 1982 feathered logo, but its in brown. I can't think what site that was now.

That UTV one's rather garish and quite funky (for the time). For some reason, I also think it looks a bit US daytime soap.

Freeman's utterly beautiful and rather easy-on-the-eye co-Bargee.
(I cannot accept any responsibility for Daniel's actions, especially when he upsets people)

Yes noted it was rather short lived. A clip of it is on You Tube, with UTV going straight into Crossroads with a promo for Channel 4 and a wipe effect into the titles (cutting out the Central globe entirely and missing the first few notes of the theme!)
