TBH I'm a bit fed up of it already!
I'm a long-standing Doctor Who fan (since around 1965 when I was capable of watching it), but I'm hating these silly 'story arc's' that seem to intrude on the stories all the time. Rory dies every other bloody story, the Doctor dies , Amy has even died, now Amy is pregnant...or is she? River Song comes and goes and died the other year, the Tardis becomes a mental woman, the Silents have invaded - or have they? Ohh Jeeeez!  Bring back the old 'self-contained' stories of old I say! The ones where companions were simply just companions, and nothing else.
Maybe it's the way forward - and I'm just old-fashioned - but I'm not liking this new 'Buffy-Style' of showing Doctor Who. Roll Eyes

I've enjoyed this serie sof Dr Who,I prefer to the Doctor snogging he companion and all the love nonsense with the Tennant Doctor.

I do prefer the orginal series but I think Steven Moffatt and Matt Smith really made their mark on the series, this season.

For some reason, I feel quite underwhelmed by this series so far, probably because the opening story was so good.  I just think there are too many story arcs now.  I like the darker tone of the stories and Matt Smith is an excellent Doctor, but Saturday's episode wasn't exactly great.  It felt like part of the story was missing, as though we'd come in part-way through.  Decidedly average and I'd guessed the pay-off a while back.

How many regenerations is the Doctor allowed? I didn't think it was very many at all. Mind you, I haven't actually sat down and viewed an episode since I was a kid, but there seem to have been an awful lot of Doctors...

And does that still stand? Even as a non-viewer, every time I turn around a new Doctor seems to be announced! And that doesn't bode well for the future of the show if he's only allowed thirteen incarnations!

I'm sure they'd get round it somehow,The Doctor is meant only to be able to regenerate 12 and have 13 incarnations but look at the

Master.

He was meant to be dying in "The Deadly Assassin" but toomover a body in "The Keeper of Traken" and again in the Paul mcGann

movie then he was brough back for the new Doctor Who series.

I feel a bit cheated by the series finale.  However, it sets up a more low-key Doctor Who for the new series, so that is fine by me.

My post re President Kennedy and As the World Turns in the Soap Operas section brought me here.  Today is the 48th anniversary of the very first episode of Dr Who.  Will anyone be watching their copy of An Unearthly Child tonight?

I so love the Hartnell years. I loved Will's fluffing of his lines.....he claimed he did it to accentuate the eccentricity of the old Doc....yeah right Grin  Maybe when he called Chesterton "Chesterman" or "Chesterfield", but I'm fairly certain the other gaffes were for real! But we let him off, 'cos he was so lovable!!

His original interpretation of the Doctor in the unbroadcast (until 1991) pilot was as rather an irascible and unlikeable character.  By the time they re-recorded the pilot ahead of the series proper, Hartnell had softened the character somewhat.

I do like all versions of the Doctor - including Colin Baker's!!

Not many people liked Colin Baker did they? I thought he was ok - didn't like his costume! But he was much better than Sylvester McCoy's era!

If there was one Doctor I liked least, it was Sylvester McCoy's.  I know a lot of people disliked Colin Baker, but I've found his Doctor to be rather enjoyable.  His banter with Peri was quite funny at times.  He really comes into his own in the Big Finish audios - he and Dr Evelyn Smythe are a brilliant team.

Agreed.  Sylvester McCoy was my least favourite too, I hardly watched him to be honest.
