Can someone tell me who the lady on the right is?

I presume the girls in the background are locals...?

I'll send the image to the Star. See if any readers are interested?

I'm thinking has to be cast otherwise in the papers at the time people would be going Who is that?

Extras are relegated usually to behind the cast.

Or if Nolly is there, its Nolly front everyone else somewhere behind.

Mike - I've been looking at the production schedule from 1965 that I sent you -and it lists the cast required for filming - and included in that is "winnie" - all the other characters match the photo... but the lady on the right doesnt look like hilda braid..... was there a different winnie in crossroads?

I agree the lady on the right is definitely not Hilda Braid.  Her character Winnie Plumtree didn't appear till 1977 so not her.

I see that "winnie, ralph and christine" were scheduled to appear in a scene set in Mrs. Higton's Garden / Kitchen

Any reference to a Winnie Higton?

Actress Helen Ford played a character called MINNIE in the first few months of Crossy. It looks by the picture as if this couid be right as she was born in 1894,so she wouid have been over 70 by then, and this woman looks as if she was.
She was a major Broadway star in the 1920s.
Hope this is of some help.

That's interesting about Minnie - it defintiely says Winnie on the production schedule (three times) I wonder if it is a mistake?

If the Central cast list is anything to go by they sometimes have difficulties with names.

We must have corrected 20 odd.

I see that Helen Ford is listed in Carry on Doctor...

anyone know which character she played? It was a 1967 film so a similar time - would be easy to check I suppose. Just says "nurse" on bfi online.

Can I be bothered to trawl through the film? Probably

I've just had a look through that film because the only Nurses I could remember in Carry on Doctor were Anita Harris and of course Hattie Jacques as Matron.  Helen Ford's name appears on the last page of the cast credits.

I couldn't see anybody of Helen's descrption as a Nurse but 26 mins into the film an older lady has a speaking part as a patient, sat up in bed visited by Jim Dale who plays a Doctor who brings her a note but first she puts her false teeth in.  I can't see her features very well in the photo, but it must be her, same build.  She also pops up a couple of times later but doesn't speak.

Had a look through the first crossroads novel to see if there was a mention of around this time in it - the wedding etc. Couldn't see it - and I think the third novel is too late. Is there a mention of the wedding in the second one (Ralph's)... I wonder whether the character might be mentioned there....?
