I have noticed this forum is mainly based on the older crossroads back in the 60s but does anyone know if it's possible to watch some of the episodes from when it started again in 2001?

I would be really greateful if someone could help me. Ta

There are some fans of the 2001-03 series here. I'm going through the process of sorting out what we have on tape but its a part time thing as its not a priority.

There are a few clips on You Tube darling. The ones from Mark Two mostly seem to be that old lush Jill drunk as a scunk - Meg would be most indignant!

i enjoyed the 2001-2003 series. i recorded most episodes think im only missing around 10 from 2003 though 2001 is a bit hit and miss. ive put them on to dvd though the quality & sound isnt up to much but its better than having none at all. if it wasnt for Crossroads 2001-2003 i wouldnt have got intersted in the original series.

I'm an old faithful to the original series. But I admit I did enjoy the 2001 series - it should have been given a better chance. But as far as I'm aware, it was doing well for its time-slot. Good characters too, eventually - loved the Russell Family, especially wicked Jake!
Their big faux pas as far as I can see was killing off Jill  Huh. Even if the actress wanted out - they could have just sent her away again with the chance (no pun intended) of her coming back one day.
Loved Virginia Raven too - a lovely working-class snob  Wink
The next series was a bit of a jumping-the-shark incident. I liked it, and thought it was a good laugh. But I saw it as a british version of Sunset Beach to be honest...the dream sequences/fantasy moments/flashbacks etc.  I didn't mind the incidental music (which the original did anyway) - but the main theme? OOF!  At least they kept the harp ending.
But, having said that, I'd love to re-watch them again. (I taped a lot of omnibus editions on VHS - but my mate got them!!)

i must have seen some of the original series as i remember the red car on the credits though i was only young.
the original series is very addictive shame so many episodes are missing as much as i love the 2001-2003 series its just not 'proper crossroads' doesnt have the same feel to it, but yes there was some good characters in the new one especially Virginia & the imposter Sarah-Jane.
the one thing that does annoy me is the one year later at beginning of 2003 i really wanted to know what happened...

Yeah, I agree - "One Year Later.." and so much had happened in that missing 12 months! New owners, new cast, completely new Hotel, and a new pub owned by the two shop-keepers. Then again, it's all explained away as a dream Roll Eyes

I like how its called Crossroads 'Millennium Edition' in some places, almost like a special return for the new millennium, makes the whole thing seem a little more, well classy LOL.

I do wish Id kept some of 2001 stuff. Especially the first few episodes witha ll the excitement of Jill and Adam returning (and Doris of course) but I do remember wishing for the other characters to have less screen time so I could fid out what Jill and Adam were up to.
If I recorded them while I was working I'd sometimes find myself hitting fast forward!  Smiley

Goldmister I used to feel the same way - when Adam, Jill and Doris were on screen it felt "right".

If it were me, I'd have still used Jill as cliffhanger number 1 - but I'd have established the show with Adam delivering the wine - maybe driving up to the hotel as the first scene.

I would have used Doris in the same way I think.

I would have included cameos from Barbara and possibly Benny to help the first few weeks settle in. Benny visiting Doris and Barbara visiting Jill.

I would even have wheeld on Edith Tatum for a cursory wave in the village.

Not to overpower the new actors - but to remind the viewers they were watching Crossroads.

I would have kept it to Patrick, Kate, Nicola, Phil, Rocky and Virginia in episode 1 though - and built on those chracters one at a time.

If anyone has copies of 2001 then I would not object to seeing some episodes again.... Smiley

Come to that, if anyone got any of the 80's episodes, the same applies, although I know its unlikely

Also, Rosemary, I think Meg would have been unhappy to have heard what Adam did to Jill in May 2001, and the time when he attacked Sarah-Jane (aka Louise Dixon) in June 2001, when she provoked him into the scuffle with some choice words, but that was after she tore up the contract that would have given Adam her 30 per cent shares of the Crossroads Hotel. Grin

Although, as Louise wasn't Sarah-Jane, and the real Sarah-Jane turned up 2 or 3 months later, Adam's contract wouldn't have been legal if Louise had signed the shares over to him, surely.

I really enjoyed the 2001-2002/Mark 2 series. The 2003/Mark 3 series was a major change, and it would have been ok if they had changed some things gradually, and kept others. The theme tune in 2003 and the titles, to me was a no-no to change. I agree that it was our equivalent of Sunset Beach for Britain. Ha ha ha! Grin

I recorded episodes 1 and 2, an omnibus with Tom and Bradley leaving King's Oak for Manchester, the last episode with poor Phil ending up in a police cell or a prison cell, and maybe some more 2001-2002 episodes in my VHS archives. I want to go through my videos anyway, so it will be good to see what nostalgia I'm going to find. Smiley

Tom and Bradley leaving was Doris' last episode as well, where you see a happy Doris waving them off outside the hotel with Ray the Aussie barman, I believe. She looks up at the Crossroads sign above her and walks away looking unhappy.

I have definitely recorded a handful more episodes from 2003/Mark 3 and they're on a video tape and labelled.

Goldmister and Heathbury The First, I like the ideas that you would have made for the programme. I would have watched definitely. The characters from Mark 1 would have got high ratings definitely. Wink
