For the last few weeks Paul O'Grady has been playing requests for favourite theme tunes of the past.  Last week he played a request for `The Avengers', this week he played `Upstairs and Downstairs'.  I put in a request for Crossroads some weeks back.  After playing `Upstairs and Downstairs' he said the following :

I've just checked it out on I Player.

"Maria, I've not forgotten Crossroads, I've put it on the list.  Good to know that the official Crossroads Fan Club still has lots of members.  My personal favourite was Vera Downend the hairdresser played by Zeph Gladstone who lived on a barge and had a past".

So there we have it from Paul himself that we will get the Crossroads theme tune played shortly.  Isn't that nice of him, giving us advance notice so we can all listen  Smiley

What time was that about, I usually have him on but this week it was a late lunchon so didn't get to hear. I can always give him a boost on the IPLAYER

Paul's show was on 5.00-7.00 p.m.  He had just played Upstairs & Downstairs theme, within the first hour, just after 5.50 p.m. so 50 mins into the programme thereabouts.  I was just walking out of the living room going into the kitchen, heard `Maria' and turned back pronto !

Mike, just thought, you could give him a mention on CAS page on Facebook too and tell fans to keep on listening to Paul's show because the Crossroads theme tune will be played shortly.  Just an idea.  All extra publicity, will do no harm.

Nice to know there is still a part of the BBC where you don't have to become personal mates with them and cook them curry and chips to get a bit of service. Tongue

Mike, What do you think then about notifying people on the CAS page on Facebook ?  Because of the Crossroads fans on there, i.e. Chris Stacey, Richard Clarke I can think of instantly.  If not yourself maybe Meg could do it ?  Maximum publicity all round to Paul's show and Crossroads of course.

Well you may post on Facebook CAS, I'd hate to take your glory for the work you did sending the letter in.

I'll add a note to the Crossroads Motel .co.uk reception notice board too.

I didn't send a letter, it was a little e-mail form on the BBC Radio 2 page.  Smiley

Ok, I'll do it then, thanks Mike.  But you certainly wouldn't have been taking any glory away from me, it would have definitely looked more official coming from yourself or Meg, I wouldn't have minded.

And that's a brilliant idea, the CAS page itself.  More publicity the better.

The info is now on the CAS Facebook plus a couple of others as well.  So should now be seen now by the widest audience possible.

The newspage also has an embeded clip of the audio. This forum doesn't do embeding so thats why one can't do it on here which is a bitch.

It may be that cover version on the clip that may be played (or any number of other versions) and not the original. Hope not.

I'd love the original, but if Paul plays another version I don't mind.  The fact that not only is Paul going to play it but he gave us advance notice so Crossroads will get two mentions, that is what I love more than anything.
