I loved it back in the 70's days with the yellow-on-black credits. When they were cutting it a bit thin, there would be minimal music at the end - and boy did those criss-cross credits go!! There was no time to read them, and they usually over-lapped (think Acorn Antiques). Other times, they had obviously finished a bit TOO early, so we were treated to an extra long theme and VERY slow credits followed by a very long shot of Jill/whoever trying to look worried for as long as they could endure until the ATV logo popped up! Lovely days!

In Episode 1757, Timothy has just persuaded Amy to stay for dinner at Lake House. Chris offers her a drink of lemonade - but he pours her a glass of orange squash.

There was a particular director who worked on the show in the late 70s also occassionally in and around 83 and he rarely seem to time the music and end credits and all the eps that I know of which ran out of music were his! I'll not mention his name! just one initial! A. lol

In Episode 1890, Vera's just taken delivery of a parcel and Sid Gilbert warns her about opening it carefully. She sets it down gently and a rather tense moment is ruined when Gilbert walks in front of the camera!

Talking of walking into cameras anyone recall that very odd episode that had two/three gentlemen from some far off country and as they both walk past the camera to go to the resturant there wasn't enough room to get past the reception desk and one of them had to duck down.

Ah yes, that's from about 1976 - they're a couple of Italians, I think, and they're in town with a famous Italian actresss, who David tries to, er, get to know better.

I think its the look from Nolly which implies "if that had been anyone else I'd have reacted to that, but knowing her she'll forget her lines if I comment on her little incident with the table. Stupid cow." that makes it better.
If we're to believe Paul Ross and Meg's sherry obsession; had she commented it would have been something like...
"Mind the f**king booze you silly bitch."
I watched this episode last night and poor Ann George! At least she managed to keep going - you can tell by her voice she hurt herself, poor thing. Meg's look behind is clearly to check if there's any the damage and see if Amy spilt the sherry. Heaven help her if those decanters had fallen over! In fairness, it's no wonder she walked into the sideboard. The chair and clearly been moved to accommodate the shot of Meg at the desk and it didn't help that some of the sets were ridiculously small and poky. In fact, I'm surprised that whole swathes of furniture didn't go flying at times, especially in Wilf's Cottage! (Who in their right mind puts a chair right at the bottom of the stairs for goodness' sake?!)

Clearly Ann George wasn't having a good week (or ten years) on Crossroads. Not only did she crash into the sideboard in Episode 1924, but in 1927 she seems to call David "Mrs Hunter". There's also Miss Tatum's drunken violin playing in the same episode - not only does her playing not correspond to the music, but Elisabeth Croft accidentally plays a couple of notes! Clearly the home brew was way too strong!!!

In Episode 1976, Sandy suggests to Kay that they wait a couple of months to go to Wytchmore Vale when the weather will be warmer. Well, there's not much chance of that - the episode was from 5 September 1973, so by November, it would be distinctly chillier!

Episode 1980: Diane: (talking about Mrs Witton's strange behaviour) "In all the nurrs I've known 'er, I've never known her like this." Also, it's kind of heartless how Ronnie James is performing for Sandy and Colin and none of them are taking a blind bit of notice of poor Mrs Witton who's sitting in the background with her face on the floor!

I think the best example or certainly the best ongoing one was the removal of Diane's staircase and her bedroom door from 1983 till 85. It would come and go.

I have been watching some episodes of Archive 3 this afternoon. I noticed Miss Tatum's shop has a few stairs leading to more shelving. The shop features alot in the storyline concerning Miss Tatum's assistant Pat marrying Don Postman/Motel Barman. But when Cyril Watkins takes charge of the shop in Archive 19 there are no stairs. For a few years the shop did not feature at all so maybe those in charge of the sets forgot about the stairs.

There was a fire at one point in the post office.. was this the change of set? Because it doesn't really look the same at all later on?

I'll never forget that night at Crossroads, when you said 'all good things must come to an end'. And then you smiled. And I knew that you meant it.

I used to like the way the lower shelving wasn't quite big enough, so they crushed the packets of cereal to make them fit in the gaps!

I can't remember a fire. But if there was, this explains the change of set. Because it is a different set altogether, no stairs.
