Regarding the missing episodes, I was wondering about the following:

1. Is it possible that some or all of the missing episodes may exist somewhere? Perhaps an overseas broadcaster, in a vault, someone's attic? I know that episodes of other shows have appeared like this and wondered how likely it was for Crossroads.

2. Do scripts of the missing episodes exist? If they did, it would be great to have them published so that the fans could at least read the missing episodes if even if we couldn't watch them anymore.

Thanks in advance! Smiley

Last we were told by ITV Leeds who have the scripts is they were being put into a digital format.

All 4500+ scripts were kept on microfiche.

Episodes abroad, unfortunately the ITC paperwork was binned so no one has a complete list of broadcast abroad, but the places that people knew of were all checked by Granada Ventures.

Thanks for that! At least the scripts survive, which is a good thing. Do we know how they ended up in Leeds?

Can any of the scripts be made available for public consumption?

The ATV archive went from Central Broad St Birmingham to Nottingham in 1997 and then to YTV in 2004 when Lenton Lane was closed down.

YTV is one of the ITV Archive facilities. ATV Episodes are in Perivale, Central/Carlton ones are also in Leeds.

Any archive material at ITV is generally for internal use or for other production companies ect. Public generally not. CAS were allowed to copy the first 6 eps from 1964 in 1996 however. We were going to go in again last year and do a bigger script session until Network DVD screwed it up with their big black lies.

It's great to know that all the scripts exist, pretty amazing really when so much else has been disposed of or lost over the years.I'm sure that relations between the Archive and CAS can  be re-established in the future.

Here is a later page from the 1970s. Interesting they counted the weeks. So its Crossroads week 626, episode 2640. Which I do believe is wiped or currently not found as optimists like to say.

As for ITV, well most staff said it was none of NetworkDVD's business what the official fan club and ITV get up to. Unfortunately I don't know network seem to think its easy to make association, it takes years and years of hard work to get anything. But I think they've cut themselves out more than anything as no one goes out of their way in ITV to help them anymore so they really should have thought about what they were doing, they're the ones who ultimately miss out on material. Most of the stuff they got was through ITV staff going beyond their remit to look and hunt (Such as the ITC film episodes that were found - which were found after I nagged and nagged for weeks for someone to look in the film library! Any thanks for that? No they just took all the credit.)

Anyway from happier days when CAS was working with Central and co-operation was at its best...

John Kavyo was copying what we did have onto CD.

I have two of them on CD. I think there are a couple more. It was very difficult Peter Kingman said (he who had to do the machine in Central) to get any decent quality copies out of it at the time (lets hope YTV have more luck if they're digitalising them) so we go episodes 1-6 from 1964 then a random selection from the 1970s of ones that worked.

I also know peter has some scripts of Nolly's that were kept, but these are the actual paper scripts so will take a bit of scanning.

I pretty much agree with DJB's comment.  Thank You Mike for letting us see the scan of the script.  Very interesting.

I'm wondering, because TTTV let someone make a book in 1999 whether if teamed up with a company ITV Global would concider some sort of script/storylines book release.

Excellent idea.  If there ever was such a book on sale, I'd definitely buy it.
