I've just rediscovered some official BARB viewing figures from April 1983 that were buried away in my attic. I've got 5 weeks of viewing figures for all four channels (Top 10's) as well as the Breakfast Time / TVAM viewing figures, on the back are the area Top 10 individual viewing.

It would take forever to type it all out but here are the viewing figures for Crossroads that made the Top 10:

w/e 03/04/83:

6. Crossroads (Wed) 13.05m
9. Crossroads (Thu) 11.80m

w/e 10/04/83:

6. Crossroads (Wed) 13.25m
6= Crossroads (Thu) 13.25m

w/e 17/04/83:

7.  Crossroads (Tue) 12.10m
8. Crossroads (Wed) 12.05m
9. Crossroads (Thu) 11.75m

w/e 24/04/83:

3. Crossroads (Tue) 13.15m
5. Crossroads (Wed) 12.80m
7. Crossroads (Thu) 12.30m

w/e 01/05/83:

3. Crossroads (Tue) 12.30m
4= Crossroads (Thu) 11.80m
7. Crossroads (Wed) 11.30m

Any questions about the Top 10's, feel free to ask.

Thx for that Mr Chance. Crossroads was certainly doing well in the ratings in '83 from the looks of things  Smiley

That was a good time! the Pollard's where going at full throttle! changes would start to happen in the summer when we had the change of writers for the next 12 months - I thought it wobbled quite a bit from summer till after Xams 83 before picking up again in spectacular fashion!

That should read 'xmas 84' not 83.

What is even more difficult to comprehend is how the programme found that size of audience when the mjority of working people hadn't got home from work yet. Corrie had about 15 around that time - if Crossie had been on primetime how much more could they have added? another 4 million? = 16 million! thus deducing!!! that Crossie was and always will be the most successful programme in British tv history! now there's a hearty statistic - and I'm not biased!

Well Jane Rossington always said if it had been on at 7pm everywhere it would have been top most of the time.

I'll never forget that night at Crossroads, when you said 'all good things must come to an end'. And then you smiled. And I knew that you meant it.
