By the way those scenes with Amy in the church and in the sitting room when the presents were being given are her final eps of Old Crossroads?
No,they're her final surviving episodes-but she was still in the programme in early 1976.

Ann George's final billing in the TV TIMES is for the (ATV) week of 17th-20th February 1976, (eps 2481-4), while the final mention of Amy in the "tease" is for episode 2482 with:

"Stan Harvey’s news for Amy Turtle leaves her astonished."

Thanks for that confirmation,Con-Con.The "news" may have been something to do with her nephew in Texas-didn't she go to visit him-and wasn't heard of again for more than a decade?

I don't suppose you could give us the TVTimes "tease" for the other episodes that week,Con-Con?It's always facinating to see what else was happening at the motel during these "lost" eras.

I've been helping someone who's writing a book on another series and for some reason it got onto Amy Turtle and he seems to think she ended up "homeless" before leaving.

"I remember being quite concerned when Amy Turtle left the motel and started living life on the streets with nowhere to live."

Anyone else remember that?

I'll never forget that night at Crossroads, when you said 'all good things must come to an end'. And then you smiled. And I knew that you meant it.

Just saw this, not sure when it goes, but it seems to go on for a good while into 1978 doesn't it?

Yes I do vaguely.  Meg was told that Amy was homeless by somebody at the Motel (Might have been Jane Smith because she was in the Salvation Army).  Meg eventually found Amy.  I can't remember anything else, whether Meg brought Amy back to Crossroads.  Knowing Meg she would have done wouldn't she ?

I recall her ending up living in a hostel c.May-June 1975(after the wedding)where she came under the influence of a ne'er-do-well. Also, around this period I seem to remember her being employed in a house where the lady wasn't very nice(think this may have been before she was in the hostel). Jean probably has more detail on this period.Must read her 1975 diary to refresh my memory when I get a chance.

So if Amy is living in a hostel it would more than likely be a Salvation Army Hostel for the homeless.  And that would mean it would probably be Jane Smith who told Meg.  That would tie in with what I could remember.  Thanks DJB.

Poor Amy - I think she was treated badly. She was well-loved (ok, not exactly an Oscar Winner!), but everyone loved her! To be shunted off like that was terrible. They could've at least given her a happy send-off!
OK - Smethurst brought her back for 'Kings Oak' - but I think that was just to calm his angry viewers down after dismissing most of the past two years' worth of Bowman's characters. She only appeared in a few episodes anyway. He'd brought Mrs Tardebigge in by then.
