http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xapa3f_crossroads-1981-beginning-of-the-en_shortfilms

David starts the deal to sell the motel behind Meg and Adams back. The scene where she says its not just a business its her home is not acting I would suspect. Nolly has taken to wearing glasses a lot more in 1981 like she's hiding away...!

David wants to sell up and go on a world tour, with Barbara, but she's having a ding dong with Jimmy who's helping her write her latest book so she tells him to go set sail on his own. Meg discovers Davids plan while picking carpets when J. Henry hints of the deal. Seven years is a long time.. will she still be there in 1988? Ironic?

Thanks for showing that clip Mike.

I remembered watching the scene where Meg says that Crossroads is her home and the bit about 1988.  I thought it sad at the time and still think it is sad 28 years later !  I too thought Nolly at the time was wearing glasses more and more as if to hide away, because of the upset of her sacking.

I didn't remember the David & J. Henry scene nor the David & Barbara scene, just the Nolly, Jill & Adam scene.

Although I still think the Meg finding out scenes are sad, still very very watchable.

Forgotten how ruthless David was back at that time! He didn't care about it being Meg and Jill's home etc.
He got his comeuppance in the end when MIH took over anyway. He was more or less forced out wasn't  he? If I remember rightly. Don't think he got on with having  yet another woman as the Boss!

Mike,Thanks for that great clip, would love a copy of it if possible,I haven't seen this since 1981,my memories are a bit hazy, but if I'm right,Adam also double crosses Meg by selling his shares to David.
Think its a shame the David Hunter character became a back stabber to Meg,considering how close they were, always find it a strech of crediblity that Jill would stay at the Motel after what David did to Meg but then again,we were about to lose Noele Gordon, wouldn't have wanted to loss Jane Rossinton, too!

I guess they thought Ronnie was the only person/actor who would not be hated for doing it to Meg as he'd been there so long.

But, we've just got on DVD in 1979 the share swap haven't we.. so you do have to wonder if they were planning to get rid as early as that.

I've got a 'working copy' for Ref (a copy from a copy) for the website as the original batch sold out a long time ago. ITC paperwork has also been lost and so has the original tape.  Shocked

However I suppose when the actual episodes survived it may have been deemed a waste to keep edited bits as well.

It doesn't have the ATV Fanfare either it has the gold ITC Entertainment logo on the start and end.  Angry

I'll add a few more bits (I don't like alternating between You Tube and Daily Motion, but YT has been rejecting uploads lately, there is another New Zealand episode I've tried to upload that it doesn't like, bloomin' site.)

I'll see about doing some copies possibly, the tape is rather ropey but it might copy to DVD.

I think there are less than 10 episodes missing for 1981 so all this should still be there. It is odd that 1980 a handful are also wiped - and one is David and Barbaras wedding?!! Random wiping? I'm still not so sure when you see what goes.

They have a VHS of it, so if they do get to 1980 as we've seen Network on the archives put 'home recordings' on the DVDs so we'd get it at least. (It didn't look that bad the quality on the Sue Lloyd After They Were Famous)

What share-swap?

Meg owned 51% and David 49% for the most silliest of excuses (David being moody, feeling 'second fiddle) Meg gave him a share of 1% to make them equal.

Actually was it 1978? Because then Hugh goes and puts Meg in the financial crap, and she has to sell some shares, Adam gets X amount. I forget how much, 15% I think he has.

Of course this storyline (I'll upload) leads to Barbara buying 15% of David's so he can't do it again.

There is a nice scene where he's spoken of long before the QE2 when Meg is discussing her future at the motel with Jill and changing her will.

Ah Adam must have sold David 1% too, as he's just commented he was daft to sell, so David owns 51%.
